Samantha Clarke

Samantha is Assistant Professor of Design Futures, based in the Arts and Well-being theme within the Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities at Coventry University. Samantha s expertise is in the design, development and evaluation of person-centred practice, behavioural psychology, user engagement/ experience, health and wellbeing intervention design and health tech. With a background in design-thinking and games psychology, she utilises person-centred approaches that include participatory and co-design method working alongside end-users and stakeholders to understand needs, barriers and facilitate effective behaviour change or meet desired learning outcomes. Her work is recognised internationally as examples of best practice in the application of creative pedagogies for optimising user-engagement/experience design in the fields of healthcare, education and technology. These include the international award winning GameChangers programme (QS Reimagine Education Science of Learning Awa21, Gamification in Education & Learning Award: Gamification Europe 2019), and recognised for local impact across Warwickshire Secondary schools through the PR:EPARe project with an Outstanding Contribution to Health Innovation: Pamela Sheredon Award 2015. She has a particular interest in the use of playful and gameful methods for developing user engagement with services that include the use of simulations, gamification and serious games design.
