Susan Faulkner

I qualified as a Solicitor in 1997, and initially worked in family law before retraining to do private client work. I worked at the Solicitor's Regulation Authority for 12 years before returning to private practice in a risk and compliance role since when I have specialised in all aspects of regulation, risk and compliance. I have worked at both small provincial and larger city firms during my career in private practice. I worked at the Solicitors Regulation Authority for 12 years, dealing with service and conduct complaints, carried out regulatory investigations, headed one of the Investigation Casework Teams as a Technical Team Leader. I was also Acting Head of the Investigation Casework Team which carried out specialist and high profile investigations. Whilst working at the SRA, I carried out two of the largest investigations into individual firms, when issues regarding their service, conduct and regulation were raised. I have extensive experience of carrying out regulatory inspections and audits at firms in England and Wales. I have since worked as Business Manager responsible for advising the COLP and COFA and AMLRO, before becoming a Compliance Solicitor at a large Northern based firm. Having worked in a range of legal environments, I have obtained a broad level of experience in all aspects of complaints handling, regulation, risk and compliance, as well as having practical private practice experience "at the coalface".
