I started my career as a surgeon, working on the front line of NHS delivery. It didn’t take long to realise that many of the biggest constraints on care weren’t clinical-they were operational. Capacity existed, but it was often locked behind inefficiencies, workarounds, and decisions made without full visibility. I went on to complete an MBA to better understand how systems are designed and run, and later spent time as an NHS Director, gaining a system-level view of how strategy translates (or fails to translate) into delivery. I now build solutions focused on closing these gaps - identifying the friction that limits throughput, the missed opportunities to use existing resources, and the hidden constraints that drive cost and delay. This isn’t about adding more capacity. It’s about making the capacity we already have actually usable. I’m particularly interested in how operational intelligence, simulation, and system-level thinking can move healthcare from reactive management to proactive design.
