About this category
The Women in Journalism Award celebrates a woman journalist, reporter or editor whose work stood out this year, in print, online, radio or television.
The judges look for strong, fair reporting, stories that mattered and a woman who opens doors for others in the newsroom.
Eligibility
Open to women-identifying journalists, reporters, correspondents and editors, staff or freelance, based in or serving the region. Self-nominations and nominations made by others are both welcome.
Judging criteria
- Entries are judged on the quality and impact of the journalism
- Accuracy and fairness
- Originality and support for other women in the profession
Qualitative criteria
- What they set out to achieve, and why it mattered
- How they work with others
- What people say about them
